Privacy policy

When you make a quiz, your name and your answers travel inside the link itself, in a portion of it that browsers never transmit to a web server. It stays on your device and on the device of whoever opens your link. We never receive it and could not retrieve it if we wanted to.

That means your quiz is only as private as the link. Anyone you send it to can open it, and anyone they forward it to can too. Send it to people you actually want taking it.

When you finish someone's quiz, your score for that quiz is saved in your browser's local storage. That is what stops a quick refresh turning a 4/10 into a 10/10, and it is why coming back to a quiz shows the score you actually got.

This saved record stays in your browser. It keeps your first score for later visits; clearing your browser data removes it. You can choose to share your score with friends. If saving is unavailable, we tell you; the result stays on the current page but may be lost when you leave or reload.

Cascade also saves your highest completed score for each board in local storage. Snake saves separate personal bests for classic and bonus-food rules, so those scores are not mixed. These personal bests stay on this browser; there is no account or synced history. Clearing site data removes them. A shared challenge uses the score from the round you choose to share, not your saved personal best.

Fun answers and results are calculated in this tab, without saving a history. Refreshing starts the quiz over. Sharing sends only the quiz version and a result identifier in the link fragment, not your answers or a name. Anyone with that link can see the shared result.

Result cards are made on your device when you choose to save one. Nothing is uploaded. Analytics counts quiz-card views, starts, progress, completions, sharing, card downloads, another-quiz taps and optional smile feedback. These events identify the quiz, not your answers, result category, or shared fragment.

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use, so we can see where people get stuck. It records which pages you viewed, roughly where you are based on your IP address, and what device and browser you used. We also count quiz starts, progress and completions, including the final score, without sending your name or individual answers. When you change a question, we count its position, broad category and whether you found a fresh question or revisited the category. We do not send the question text or its identifier.

In the UK, the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland it sets no cookies at all and sends cookieless measurement pings. Elsewhere it sets its usual analytics cookies. We have advertising features switched off everywhere, because we don't run ads.

It never sees your quiz. Your name and answers travel in the part of the link browsers do not transmit, so they reach neither us nor Google. The page address recorded is /q/, never the contents.

If you would rather not be counted, any content blocker will stop it, as will Google's own opt-out browser add-on.

Separately, our server keeps standard logs for security and abuse prevention. We truncate the address in those before writing them, so they identify a network rather than a person, and they never contain your quiz.

Cascade, Breach and Snake run in your browser. A challenge link contains a starting seed and a score in its fragment, so a friend can play the same starting setup and rules. In Snake, food positions can differ as your routes diverge. There is no account, server-side game history or online leaderboard.

Analytics counts challenge opens, starts, finishes, retries, board inspections and share actions, including the number of orbs cleared or points earned in Breach and Snake. Breach saves only the current solo checkpoint, not a history of rounds. Our game events do not include a name, the layout number or the challenge link.
